Please tell everyone you know about this movie.  Regardless of troop level increases, when the American public sees this movie, recruitment will plummet.

I plan to see this. Even it was movie was made for entertainment purposes or even if it swings "left" (screw party platforms, at this point), our gov't really IS stop-lossing ("back-door drafting") our troops. And it's wrong.

These honorable men and women DESERVE better.

I'm 100% backing you up and am encouraging everyone I know to get informed! Get angry. We need to do something.

Our troops need our dedication to them as much as we need theirs.

They DO deserve better.  We must keep the pressure on Congress.  They passed the law.  They can change it!  Write your senators and congressman.  Remember, they want to get re-elected.  Thanks for your support, Jennifer.

I have son who just turned 20 and is on his way into the army. My worst nightmare. His father died 3 days before retirement. I have a fiance in egypt who may not be coming home on time and could possible loose him too. we need to pull out. The war is over. Sadam has been killed and we don't need to be there. Bring our men home damn it.

        Dear Tina,

Believe me I understand, my son was your age when he joined the Army and I know exactly how you feel.   He was supposed to be out last July 6th.  Guess what?  He is still in and he did not re-enlist.  I agree this war has gotten ridiculous.  We need to leave.

Our son-in-law, a psychologist in the Army Reserves, completed his 8-year obligation on March 1, 2007. That was over a year ago! He has been stop-lossed and will be leaving for Iraq for his 3rd deployment next week. This will be a 400-day deployment. I am so angry about the unfairness of this policy....obviously we don't have enough soldiers to fight these wars. We should either have a draft again so that there are enough soldiers to fight these wars and so that ALL families are involved, or we should bring our soldiers home. I vote for the second option.... I am very hopeful that the movie "Stop Loss" will bring this situation to the public's attention and that Congress will be forced to do something about this very, very unfair policy.

        Dear Linda,

I'm so sorry about your son-in-law.  My son was supposed to be out last July 6, 2007.  He is still in.  The only thing that kept him from going back in October was leg surgery (from the 1st time he was over there - non-hostile).  I have tried and tried to work with members of the Senate Armed Services Committee.  I have had some luck with Bill Nelson and Saxby Chambliss but no one seems to want to sponser a bill to do away with or limit stop loss.  In my son's case, they simply changed his ETS date to March 9, 2009.  So technically, its not stop loss, its changing the date on a contract.  I'm a lawyer and I have to scratch my head over the Army's ability to do that and their obvious lack of contractual law knowledge.  When the movie comes out, I plan to start beating the bushes, again, and hopefully, with the momentum created by the film, I will have much better luck with Congress.  You are right.  Congress passed the stupid, vague law and now they need to change it.
        Sincerely,
        Suzanne Miller
